Discovery of Antibiotics: Alexander Fleming and Penicillin's Revolution in Medicine
16/06/2023 14:37:08

In 1928, Alexander Fleming accidentally discovered that a mold called Penicillium notatum killed Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This discovery formed the basis of modern antibiotics. It is known that the mold fungus found by chance in Fleming's laboratory led to the discovery of the first antibiotic agent, later called penicillin.

This discovery revolutionized the field of medicine and made great progress in the treatment of infectious diseases. Antibiotics have become an important tool in fighting infections and have saved many lives. Today, however, we face new challenges such as antibiotic resistance, so new measures and strategies are being developed to combat antimicrobial resistance.
